Paw Island Entertainment ("Paw Island") respects the privacy rights of our online visitors and is committed to protecting the information collected from its visitors.  To further this commitment, we have adopted an Online Privacy Policy that guides how we handle the information collected from our visitors, including those under the age of 13 ("child" or "children").

Please note that this Privacy Policy applies only to information submitted and collected online through the website(s) listed above, and does not apply to information that may be collected by Paw Island offline.  In addition, this Privacy Policy applies only to sites maintained by Paw Island and not to websites maintained by other companies or organizations to which we link.  Paw Island is therefore not responsible for the content or activities provided on such sites. 

What types of information does Paw Island collect and how will it be used?

In order to give you the best experience on our site, Paw Island may collect information about you, but only if you voluntarily provide it to us.  Typically, we may ask a user to submit personal and/or demographic information, and it will usually take the form of either: (1) a newsletter subscription; (2) an e-greeting or tell-a-friend submission; (3) a contest or promotion; (4) email correspondence; and/or, (5) the purchase of a product or service at our online store.  The types of information requested for each activity and the way the information is used are detailed below: 

§      Newsletter

To subscribe to the Paw Island newsletter, all users, including children under 13, will be prompted to submit their email address as well as the email address of their parent or legal guardian ("parent").  Upon receiving the information, Paw Island will send the child an email explaining how to complete the newsletter subscription and receive the first newsletter, and will provide the parent with notice of our information collection practices and the opportunity to prevent us from sending the child a second newsletter.  If the parent does not respond within a reasonable amount of time, the child's email address will be used to send the child the newsletter on a regular basis, but not for any other purpose.     

§      Tell-a-Friend and E-Greetings

Throughout our site, we provide all users, including children under 13, the opportunity to email a Paw Island web page or other information about Paw Island to another person, whether it is a friend, family member, or relative.  From time to time, we also offer a feature that would allow you to send another person an electronic greeting or e-card.  For these features of our site to work, we need to collect your first name and email address and the email address(es) of those to whom you want to send the web page, information, or e-card.  The email addresses collected in this context are not used for any other purpose (such as marketing), and are deleted once your request has been fulfilled.

§      Contests and Promotions

From time to time, we may offer a contest or promotion on our website.  If you choose to participate in such an event, we may ask you to provide your email address as well as your first name.  This information is used to notify the winners of the contest or promotion that they've won a prize, and is deleted as soon as the contest or promotion ends. 

§      Email Correspondence

On our site, we often provide an email address to which children and adult users can send questions or comments to a Paw Island character (e.g., Buford).  By allowing you to send e-mail to us, we are not attempting to collect any personal information about you.  We use the personal information contained in such e-mail (i.e., email address) solely to respond to your specific inquiry or comments in the e-mail, and for no other purpose.  Immediately after we've responded, your email address and email message are deleted from our records.

§      Online Store

To purchase goods and/or services from our online store -- a service available only to those 18 years old and older -- you will need to provide a valid credit card number and expiration date, billing and shipping addresses in addition to your name, telephone number, and email address.  Paw Island uses personal information collected in this manner solely for the purpose of completing the transaction, which may include sharing the information with vendors responsible for the fulfillment and delivery of all purchases made at our online store.

Please note that we are prohibited from conditioning a child's participation in an activity - like a newsletter or e-greeting - on the child's disclosure of more personal information than is reasonably necessary to participate in the activity.  In addition, with respect to requests from adult users (such as an online purchase), we will only collect the information deemed reasonably necessary to fulfill such requests.

What happens if I refuse to provide my personal information to Paw Island?

If you choose not to submit personal information when requested, you may not be able to participate in certain activities on our site and may considerably limit the services we can provide you.  For example, if you refuse to disclose your email address, you will not be able to use the Tell-a-Friend feature on our site.  However, to simply browse our site, view content, and play games, you do not need to give us any personal information.

Does Paw Island use cookies, track IP addresses or use other passive means to collect information?

Cookies

Cookies are pieces of data your web browser stores on your hard drive.  We sometimes use cookies to track referrals from affiliated sites.  Most browsers accept cookies.  However, if you wish, you can usually set them to refuse cookies.  If your cookies are turned off, we cannot guarantee that all features of the site will be accessible to you.  Paw Island does not use cookies to gather any personal information about visitors to our site, but in the future may place a cookie to track non-identifiable return visitors to our site.

IP Addresses

The Paw Island web site logs the IP address and domain name used in connecting to our site for system administration purposes only.  This information is logged to track a user's session.  This gives Paw Island an idea of which parts of our site users are visiting.  We do not link IP addresses or domain names to anything personally identifiable.  This means that a user's session will be tracked, but the user will be anonymous.

Who is collecting my personal information?

The information that you disclose while visiting any of our websites (listed above) is collected by either Paw Island Entertainment or one of its vendors, and is used in the manner specified above.  Listed below are the names of all vendors currently employed by Paw Island and who may collect and, in some cases, store personal information on Paw Island's behalf:

What is Paw Island's policy regarding links to third party sites?

You should be aware that while you are on a website operated by Paw Island, you may be directed to other sites that are beyond our control and for which we are not responsible.  Because we cannot guarantee that the privacy policies of these websites meet our high standards, we recommend that you read the privacy policy of the website to which you link before you submit any personal information.

Can I choose how my personal information is used?

Paw Island provides users the opportunity to opt-out of receiving our newsletter.  Requests to opt-out may be sent by email to brian@pawisland.com.  Similarly, parents who wish to discontinue the further use of their child's personal information (i.e., discontinue their child's subscription to our newsletter) may do so by sending an email to brian@pawisland.com.  Please include in your request the email address your child used to subscribe to our newsletter.

In addition, along with every newsletter sent to you or your child, Paw Island gives you the opportunity to discontinue receiving future newsletters (i.e., unsubscribe).

What safeguards does Paw Island use to protect my personal information?

Paw Island maintains appropriate safeguards that ensure the security, quality, and privacy of the personal information we collect and, in some cases, store about our visitors, including children under 13.  Personal information collected by Paw Island is stored in secure operating environments that are not available to the public and is only accessible by authorized employees (e.g., firewall protected server).

In addition, our online store uses industry-standard encryption to prevent unauthorized electronic access to sensitive financial information such as your credit card number.
